Chris Peterson
Chris joins the Pacific Juniors team following a successful career at Club West Volleyball. He was the head coach for Club West’s 13 National team,
where he led his squad to a Gold Medal at the Junior National Championships this past season in Atlanta. He was also an Assistant Coach for 18 National
who placed 7th in the Open Division at Nationals. Both
teams set club records for final placement at the national level.
The previous season, both his 13’s and 18’s qualified for Junior Nationals and the 13’s were the Bronze Flight Champions. He has coached over 20 Division 1
scholarship athletes and almost every member of the 18’s teams he coached received full ride college scholarships. Chris is currently the Assistant Coach at
San Dimas High School under former teammate Jeff Pang and also assisted for 3 years Claremont McKenna College.
Chris played Outside Hitter and Setter for 4 years at the University of La Verne where he led his teams to two national Final 4 appearances, an NCAA national
championship and a National Runner-Up finish, both under head coach Jack Coberly. He was twice selected to the Final 4 All-Tournament Team. Chris is La Verne’s
all-time leader in career kills, career digs and career aces. He was a Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 senior in High School and holds school records at Clovis High
in kills and digs. He also broke state records in his final high school match with 52 kills and 14 aces. His high school club teams finished in the top 10 at the
Junior Olympics 3 times and won 3 Regional Championship titles under coach Roy Verduzco.
A motivated and relentless defender and serve receiver, he takes pride in teaching his players the foundational importance of ball control and defensive skills.
Chris has spent the majority of his professional career developing leaders and teaching kids. He has over 15 years of experience in wilderness education, leadership
training, and team building. He has led and mentored a diverse range of people in his career, from Easter Seals kids, pre-schoolers and inner-city troubled youth, to
top level athletes, Navy Seals and CEO’s. An avid mountaineer and climber, Chris has a deep appreciation for experiential and wilderness education and strives to teach
his players the importance of the bigger picture in life.
Chris is the founder of Simplified Horticulture Inc., an organic fertilizer company, and a lifetime honorary member of the Surfrider Foundation. He is a California Master
Gardener and enjoys surfing, basketball and skateboarding in his spare time.
